KURA Announces Night Closure on Ngong Road

Kenya Urban Roads Authority has announced a temporary partial night closure on Ngong Road. The closure will affect motorists near Junction Mall.

Additionally, the works will begin on May 18, 2026. The exercise will continue until May 31, 2026.

Therefore, drivers should prepare for possible traffic disruptions nightly. The closure will occur daily from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

The affected section lies near the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road intersection. Officials say the project remains crucial for Nairobi traffic flow.

Flyover Project Nears Final Construction Phase

KURA confirmed the closure supports final asphalt surfacing works. The works form part of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover Project.

Additionally, the project carries an estimated cost of KSh3.58 billion. Construction teams are now completing the final road surface phase.

Therefore, authorities expect improved traffic movement after completion. The flyover aims to ease congestion significantly.

Officials stated the project separates through-traffic from local vehicles. This strategy should reduce delays at major intersections.

Additionally, smoother traffic flow may improve travel times daily. Motorists frequently experience congestion around the Junction area.

Motorists Advised to Use Alternative Routes

KURA urged motorists to cooperate during the construction period fully. Drivers should plan journeys earlier to avoid delays.

Additionally, authorities recommended several alternative routes. Motorists may use Hatheru Road during closure hours.

Gitanga Road also remains available for diversions. Additionally, drivers can access James Gichuru Road easily.

Riara Road and Kingara Road will support traffic movement. Therefore, commuters should expect heavier traffic along these routes.

KURA also advised motorists to follow on-site traffic marshals carefully. Officials emphasized safety throughout the night operations.

Additionally, drivers should remain patient during the temporary disruption. Construction crews will continue working overnight consistently.road

The Ngong Road corridor serves thousands of commuters daily. Therefore, improvements could benefit businesses and residents significantly.

Urban planners also expect better connectivity across nearby neighborhoods. The project may strengthen mobility around major shopping areas.

Additionally, improved roads could reduce fuel consumption and delays. Many motorists spend hours in traffic currently.

Commuters Encouraged to Stay Updated

KURA encouraged road users to monitor official traffic updates regularly. Authorities may issue additional advisories during the construction period.

Additionally, weather conditions could affect ongoing road works occasionally. Motorists should stay informed before traveling nightly.

Public transport users may also experience route adjustments temporarily. Therefore, commuters should allow extra travel time daily.

Officials reassured motorists that the closure remains temporary. The road section will reopen fully after works conclude.

Night Works Aim to Ease Future Traffic Congestion

The temporary Ngong Road closure supports major infrastructure improvements. KURA aims to complete final surfacing works efficiently.
