MP Peter Salasya Attacked by Angry Fans at Nyayo Stadium.

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya faced a hostile reception at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, as rowdy football fans roughed him up and forced him out of the venue.

The lawmaker was among thousands of Kenyans who had gathered to watch the FIFA World Cup qualifier match. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when a section of the crowd turned against him.

Viral Videos Capture the Chaos

Footage circulating on social media seen by 254news shows Salasya, dressed in an AFC Leopards jersey, being aggressively pushed toward the exit gate by angry youths. Some were seen throwing objects at him, while a few attempted to shield him from the escalating situation.

In another clip, police officers can be seen intervening, pleading on his behalf as they swiftly escort him to safety. The visibly agitated crowd followed closely, with some shouting, “Heshimu Raila!”—a phrase demanding respect for opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Salasya Breaks Silence on X (Twitter)

Following the incident, Salasya took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a cryptic one-word message: “Noted.” The brief response was widely interpreted as an acknowledgment of the warning he received from the fans.

In a subsequent post, the MP stated that he had chosen peace over retaliation despite having “several options” to respond. However, he issued a stern warning. Declaring that if a similar situation arises in the future, “it will be business unusual.”

What Triggered the Attack?

While the exact cause of the hostility remains unclear, political tensions and past remarks made by the MP regarding Raila Odinga could have contributed to the unrest.

This dramatic event at Nyayo Stadium has sparked online debate, with supporters and critics sharing their opinions on Salasya’s political stance and the actions of the fans.
