Police Seize 2,520 Litres of Illegal Alcohol in Kahawa West Raid
The National Police Service (NPS), working alongside National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), has conducted a successful raid on an illegal alcohol manufacturing site in Soweto, Kahawa West, within Kasarani Sub-County, Nairobi.
The operation forms part of an intensified nationwide crackdown on illicit alcohol production and distribution. Authorities say the exercise aims to protect public health, improve community safety, and dismantle illegal brewing networks.
Thousands of Litres of Illegal Alcohol Seized
During the raid, officers recovered large quantities of illicit alcohol. Specifically, law enforcement officers seized 2,400 litres of Kangara and 120 litres of Chang’aa from the premises.
The confiscated alcohol was allegedly being processed and prepared for distribution within surrounding communities. As a result, authorities believe the operation disrupted a significant illegal supply chain.
Brewing Equipment Confiscated
In addition to the alcohol, officers recovered various brewing tools and manufacturing equipment. The seized apparatus was reportedly being used to produce and package the illegal drinks.
Authorities noted that dismantling such facilities remains critical in preventing the circulation of harmful and unregulated alcohol. Furthermore, investigations are ongoing to identify individuals linked to the operation.

The raid aligns with the government’s broader strategy to eliminate illicit alcohol and drug manufacturing activities across the country.
Security agencies have intensified surveillance and enforcement operations in several counties following concerns over public health risks and criminal activities associated with illegal brews. Consequently, more inspections and targeted operations are expected in the coming weeks.
