Patrick Matasi Suspended for 90 Days by FKF

Harambee Stars and Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Patrick Matasi Suspended. In a press statement the FKF has suspended Patrick Matasi for 90 days. This is after the match fixing allegations levelled against him after a video on social media platforms.
This is after they had earlier stated that they have started an investigation against the shot stopper. The Thursday evening statement reads;
“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has provisionally suspended goalkeeper Patrick Matasi from all FKF-sanctioned events and competitions for 90 days, following concerns raised by circulating videos suggesting possible match manipulation.”
The Kenya Football governing body made this decision in accordance with Section VII (2) of the FKF anti-match manipulation regulations of 2016. They went on to day that the player and his current club have been informed formally.
As the investigation starts FKF will collaborate with the continental and world football governing bodies (CAF and FIFA). Additionally, other relevant authorities will be involved to get to the root of this serious match fixing scandal.

What Led Patrick Matasi to be Suspended
On Tuesday evening a video posted on social media platforms sparked outrage about the alleged match manipulation claims. Various users went on to share their frustrations on the rampant match fixing claims in the Kenyan football scene.
This is not the first time a Kenyan footballer has been suspended for match fixing. In 202, six Zoo Kericho players were expelled from the Kenyan Premier League after being found guilty of match fixing.
Furthermore, 10 players from different clubs like Kericho FC and Tusker FC have been suspended before for match fixing. This is now a menace in the Kenyan football and the governing body should act quick to prevent such scenarios from happening.
In case Patrick Matasi is guilty of the charges levelled against him he will face expulsion. The expulsion might last four years and won’t take part in any football activity.
