Kitengela Foreman Robbed of Ksh 307,000 Meant for Workers’ Pay After Bank Visit
Police are investigating a robbery in which a construction foreman in Kitengela lost Ksh 307,000. This is shortly after withdrawing the money from a local bank on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The foreman, who had visited Diamond Trust Bank’s Kitengela Branch, had planned to use the cash to pay workers at a site in the Kimalati area. However, his routine trip took a dramatic turn when two men dressed as traffic police officers flagged him down, accusing him of a traffic violation.
Believing the men were legitimate officers, the foreman allowed them and a civilian who joined them into his vehicle under the pretense of being escorted to a police station.
Soon after, the situation turned violent. The trio overpowered the foreman, took control of his vehicle. The two men drove him nearly 50 kilometers away to Old Kiambu Road. They robbed him of the Ksh 307,000, left him bruised. They later fled away with the foreman’s car keys, leaving him stranded in his car.
The shaken foreman later reported the incident at Muthaiga Police Station. Detectives from both Muthaiga and Kitengela are now working together to track down the suspects.
The incident has left about 15 mjengo workers unpaid, as their employer was unable to deliver the wages.
