Another Suspect Arrested in Connection to the Fatal Shooting of Hon. Charles Were

Detectives have arrested another suspect linked to the brutal killing of Kasipul MP Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, who was fatally shot on April 30, 2025.
Amos Barasa Kasili was apprehended in the Kibera Darajani area in an intelligence-led operation. Authorities say forensic investigations placed Barasa at the crime scene and connected him to the primary suspects involved in the assassination.
Barasa is alleged to have served as the motorcycle rider of a Bajaj Boxer. The registration number KMFZ 413W was used to trail the MP’s vehicle and later served as the assailants’ getaway transport. The motorcycle was recovered in his possession at the time of arrest.

Investigators revealed that Barasa is a habitual criminal who poses as a boda boda operator. The bike has a history of collaborating with armed gangs. During interrogation, he confessed to being hired by the main suspects and admitted to receiving Ksh. 50,000 for his role in the plot.
CCTV footage from near Parliament captured a motorcycle matching the one recovered. It is seen trailing Hon. Were’s car shortly before the fatal attack.
Barasa, the arrested suspect, who has previously served at Industrial Area Prison, where he allegedly met some co-conspirators, is now being processed for arraignment. Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they work to bring all those involved in the assassination to justice.
