The singer briefly switched her display name to Adele Adkins before reverting to Adele, leaving fans guessing about her next move.

A brief Adele YouTube name change has sparked speculation about new music and her upcoming acting debut. The British singer’s official channel briefly displayed Adele Adkins before returning to her familiar stage name.

However, the channel handle stayed @adele throughout. Adele has not explained the switch or confirmed any connection to a forthcoming announcement.

Adele YouTube name change fuels fan theories

Fans spotted the updated display name and shared the development across social media. Some interpreted it as a possible hint at a self-titled fifth studio album.

Others linked the change to her move into film. Both theories remain unconfirmed, with no official statement explaining why the channel briefly used her surname.

The album speculation centres on Adele’s catalogue of four studio records, all carrying numerical titles. Using Adele Adkins prompted some fans to wonder whether she might introduce a different naming approach.

For now, however, the restored display name offers no confirmation of a new release. The brief update alone does not establish plans for another album.

Four albums behind the speculation

Adele released her debut album, 19, in 2008, featuring Chasing Pavements and Make You Feel My Love. She later added 21, 25 and 30, with the most recent arriving in 2021.

Her path into music began after a friend uploaded a three-song school-project demo to MySpace. The recordings attracted online attention and helped her secure a deal with XL Recordings.

Born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins in Tottenham, London, she studied at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. There, she developed her singing and songwriting skills before building a career around powerful vocals and emotional ballads.

Acting debut adds another possible explanation

Meanwhile, Adele is set to make her acting debut in Cry to Heaven, directed by Tom Ford. The film adapts Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name.

That upcoming role has also shaped fans’ interpretations of the temporary profile update. However, Adele has not linked the name change to the film, leaving its purpose unclear.
