Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo escaped serious injury after a late-night crash involving a vehicle leased to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
The accident happened along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway in the Kikuyu area on Monday night, September 28, 2026, as Gisairo travelled back to Nairobi from his constituency.
Gisairo confirmed the incident on Tuesday morning and reassured his constituents that he remained safe. However, the circumstances surrounding the crash have raised questions, with the MP calling for police to establish what happened.
How The Crash Happened
The accident happened at around 8pm in the Kikuyu area. According to Gisairo, a speeding double-cabin pickup truck hit his vehicle from behind with significant force.
The impact tore off the rear right tyre of the MP’s vehicle. Despite the damage, his driver managed to control the car and bring it to a safe stop, while the pickup lost control and rolled into a ditch beside the highway.
Mystery Surrounds Leased State Vehicle
The situation attracted further attention after Gisairo and his security team checked on the occupants of the crashed pickup. The vehicle, an Isuzu D-Max with registration KDX 961T, carries ownership details linked to Isuzu Kenya but reportedly serves the Ministry of Interior and National Administration under a lease arrangement.
Gisairo said he and his security team moved to help the two occupants after the pickup rolled into the ditch. However, another vehicle bearing government registration plates soon arrived at the scene and reportedly drove the two occupants away.
The development raised questions about who had been using the leased vehicle and why another government vehicle removed the occupants from the crash scene.
Gisairo Calls For Investigation
Gisairo said he escaped with minor muscle strains following the impact. He thanked those who responded to the incident while calling for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“We are safe, albeit with some minor muscle pulls from the impact,” Gisairo said. He also said the occupants left the scene in a passing government vehicle and confirmed that authorities had received a report about the incident.
The MP wants investigators to establish who operated the leased Ministry of Interior vehicle and why the occupants left the scene shortly after the crash. He also wants authorities to establish the circumstances that led to the government vehicle arriving at the scene.
Police are expected to investigate the crash, identify the occupants of the pickup and establish what caused the collision. Investigators will also need to establish the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s use and the removal of its occupants from the scene.
