During the visit, Kutto gained insights into the conditions Kenyan personnel face in their deployment. The discussions also covered the demands of their duties under AUSSOM.

The engagement formed part of an ongoing tour by KDF general officers to meet personnel in operational areas. Through these visits, military leaders assess preparedness and recognise troops’ contribution to regional peace and security.

Welfare and service recognised during KDF Day

The visit also coincided with KDF Day commemorations, which honour serving and former military personnel. The occasion remembers soldiers who have died in service and recognises veterans’ contributions.

KDF Day further acknowledges personnel who continue to defend Kenya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. For Kenyan troops in Somalia, it also highlights the personal and family sacrifices of serving away from home.

The KDF said leadership engagement helps strengthen relationships between commanders and troops while sustaining morale. It also identified personnel welfare as a key part of operational effectiveness, alongside those command relationships.
