NDC official Kirk Mensah confirmed the Ghanaian entertainer’s death after he collapsed at Owass Radio in Tarkwa.

Kwame Dzokoto, the Ghanaian actor, comedian and broadcaster, has died after collapsing during a live radio discussion. He was 51.

Dzokoto reportedly fell ill during a morning panel discussion at Owass Radio in Tarkwa on Thursday, October 22, 2026. He was rushed to hospital, where staff pronounced him dead on arrival.

Kirk Mensah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Western Regional Communication Officer, confirmed his death. Mensah said the entertainer collapsed while taking part in the programme in Ghana’s Western Region.

Footage from the broadcast reportedly showed Dzokoto appearing to struggle during the discussion. The camera then became shaky before the transmission ended.

His death also comes weeks after he rejected rumours in September 2026 that he had died. In an interview at the time, Dzokoto discussed his health challenges, saying he was recovering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

However, the information confirming his death did not establish what caused the collapse.

A career spanning comedy, food and radio

Dzokoto became a familiar figure in Ghanaian entertainment through his work on television and radio. Audiences knew him for playing Judge Koboo in the television comedy series Efiewura.

He also hosted Edziban, a TV3 programme exploring Ghanaian cuisine, food culture and local eateries. Through the show, he introduced viewers to the country’s culinary traditions.

Alongside television, Dzokoto worked as a radio presenter at Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi. His broadcasting career therefore reached audiences across both radio and television.

Political role and tributes

Beyond entertainment, Dzokoto entered politics through the NDC. He contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the party’s ticket during Ghana’s 2016 general election.

In confirming the death, Mensah referred to Dzokoto’s association with both Efiewura and Edziban. Friends and colleagues are meanwhile mourning the entertainer, remembering his contributions to Ghana’s entertainment industry and broadcasting.
