ODM leader Oburu Odinga has addressed speculation about his illness and prolonged absence from public engagements. In an Oburu health update from hospital on Thursday evening, the Siaya Senator said he was recovering.
However, he acknowledged that he had not yet regained full health. He also defended his right to keep medical information private, rejecting suggestions that he owed the public an explanation.
Oburu health update follows public absence
Oburu spoke after an extended absence from the political scene raised questions about his health and whereabouts. During the hospital appearance, he confirmed that illness had kept him away from public engagements.
He stressed that falling ill was an ordinary human experience, rather than a reason for speculation. His message also sought to reassure those questioning his whereabouts that he was alive and recovering.
Although he reported progress, Oburu made clear that his recovery remained incomplete. He described himself as moving towards better health, rather than having fully recovered.
