John Mbadi Eyes 2032 Presidency, Rules Out 2027 Bid

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has declared interest in the 2032 presidential race. However, he ruled out contesting in the 2027 General Elections. Instead, he pledged loyalty to President William Ruto until 2032.

Mbadi spoke during a public meeting on February 9. Consequently, his remarks triggered immediate political discussion.

Mbadi dismissed speculation about a 2027 bid. He insisted he will support Ruto through the next election. Therefore, he framed his ambition as a long-term plan.

He argued that ODM should back the broad-based government. Moreover, he said the late Raila Odinga would support cooperation.

“We will work with Ruto until 2027,” Mbadi stated.

“Then some of us are ready for 2032.”

He emphasized personal readiness for national leadership. However, he warned that not everyone shares that confidence.

ODM Internal Tensions Surface

Meanwhile, Mbadi criticized ODM leaders opposing the alliance. He accused them of weakening party unity. Consequently, he singled out Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Mbadi called for disciplinary action within the party. He argued that Sifuna holds conflicting political interests.

“A conflicted leader cannot guide ODM,” Mbadi said.mbadi

He urged the party to enforce internal accountability.

Furthermore, he dismissed claims about sensitive party documents. He stated that trustees already control official records. According to Mbadi, institutional safeguards protect ODM assets. Therefore, no single official holds excessive authority.

Political Strategy and Future Positioning

Mbadi framed his comments as strategic preparation. He said early clarity prevents internal confusion. Additionally, he encouraged open competition for future leadership.

He warned against hidden agendas within party ranks. Instead, he promoted transparent political ambition.

Observers view his declaration as long-term positioning. Nevertheless, ODM remains divided over its direction. The debate reflects broader coalition tensions. As a result, party unity faces continued tests.

Ultimately, Mbadi positioned himself as a future contender. However, he anchored that ambition in present loyalty.
