Participants wore purple ribbons to symbolize solidarity and their demand for justice. Meanwhile, similar demonstrations took place in Machakos, Kisumu, Bomet, and other LSK branches.
Deaths Spark National Concern
Edward Muthee Kariuki, the proprietor of Edward Kariuki Law Firm, was found murdered outside his Athi River home on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Days later, authorities discovered the body of Kenya Forest Service Legal Services Manager Esther Wairimu Keige.
Her remains were found in a coffee plantation in Juja on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 after weeks of searching. The two deaths have raised serious concerns within the legal profession.

LSK Presents Petition
Following the march, LSK leaders presented a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police. The society argued that the two deaths within a short period require urgent and transparent investigations.
Lawyers called for swift action to restore confidence in the justice system.
Key Demands
LSK urged authorities to establish a multi-agency investigation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. The society also requested a forensic audit of land matters linked to Esther Wairimu’s work at the Kenya Forest Service.
Additionally, LSK called for stronger security measures to protect advocates serving in public institutions. The legal fraternity maintained that justice for the two advocates is essential to uphold the rule of law and protect the legal profession.
