Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has sparked attention online after showcasing a rare Audemars Piguet Rainbow luxury watch valued at up to Sh46.8 million ($360,000).

The Bongo Flava star’s latest display has renewed interest in his wealth and the business empire he has built through music, endorsements and entertainment ventures. However, the watch’s estimated market value does not necessarily reflect its purchase price.

Inside Diamond’s Luxury Timepiece

The watch is identified as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Rainbow. It features 32 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires around its bezel and a skeletonised dial that exposes its intricate movement.

While the model’s reported retail price stands at approximately Sh13 million ($100,000), rare versions can command significantly higher prices on the resale market. Listings on luxury watch platforms, including Chrono24, have placed comparable pieces within the Sh35.1 million to Sh46.8 million range.

Actual prices depend on factors such as the watch’s condition, materials, rarity and customisation. The exact amount Diamond paid for his timepiece has not been established.

From Second-Hand Clothes to Music Stardom

Born Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, Diamond began pursuing music in the mid-2000s while selling second-hand clothes in Dar es Salaam to support his ambitions.

His early releases struggled to gain traction, but his career changed following the success of Kamwambie in 2010. The project helped establish him as one of Tanzania’s leading music acts and expanded his following across East Africa.

Over the years, he has developed a sound blending Bongo Flava, Afropop, R&B and dancehall, attracting audiences beyond Tanzania.

Building the WCB Wasafi Empire

Beyond music, Diamond has expanded into business through WCB Wasafi, his record label and entertainment brand. Concert tours, digital streaming revenue and brand partnerships have also contributed to his commercial profile.

His growing influence reflects the opportunities available to East African artists who turn musical success into wider entertainment businesses.

As Diamond continues to build his international profile, his luxury lifestyle remains a talking point among fans. The latest watch display offers another glimpse into the wealth and image associated with one of the region’s most prominent entertainers.
