Instagram Rolls Out Reorder Grid Feature

On June 8, 2026, Instagram officially began rolling out its long-awaited Reorder Grid feature to users worldwide.

The update allows users to rearrange posts on their profiles without affecting engagement metrics.  Consequently, Instagram is moving away from the strict reverse-chronological layout that has existed since 2010.

Additionally, creators, brands, and everyday users can now customize their profiles more effectively. The feature helps users showcase important content at the top of their grids.

How the Reorder Grid Feature Works

Instagram has made the feature simple and accessible. Consequently, users can reorganize their content in just a few steps.

  • Method One: Long-Press a Post

Users can long-press any post directly from their profile grid. A menu will appear with a “Reorder Grid” option. After selecting it, users can drag and drop posts into preferred positions.

  • Method Two: Through Profile Settings

Users can also access the tool through their profile settings.

– First, tap “Edit Profile.”

– Next, select “Edit Grid” or “Reorder Grid.”

– Then drag content to the desired location and save changes.IG

Pinned Posts and Metrics Remain Unchanged

Instagram has retained several important safeguards. Consequently, pinned posts and Reels remain fixed at the top of profiles. Users cannot move pinned content while rearranging other posts.

Additionally, the platform preserves original publishing dates and engagement metrics. Likes, comments, shares, and views remain unchanged after reordering.

Why the Update Matters

The feature gives users unprecedented control over profile presentation. Consequently, creators can highlight top-performing content more strategically.

Brands can showcase campaigns and products more effectively. Additionally, users can improve the visual appeal of their profiles without reposting content. Instagram says the feature supports creativity and self-expression.

A Long-Awaited Feature Finally Arrives

Instagram users have requested grid customization for years. Consequently, the June 8 rollout marks one of the platform’s most anticipated updates.

The feature had previously appeared in limited testing before the wider release.

As the rollout continues globally, users now have greater freedom to curate their digital identities and create stronger first impressions on their profiles.
