Veronica Duder’s 1930 Essex Super Six took overall car honours at the 54th Africa Concours d’Elegance at Ngong Racecourse.
A logbook age tie-break settled the car honours at Ngong Racecourse, while Rick Agagliate’s Indian Scout won the motorcycle category by a single point.

The event took place at Ngong Racecourse on Sunday, September 27.
The Essex finished level on 278 points with Mike Duder’s 1930 Ford Tudor.
However, the Essex secured victory after officials used the age of each marque. The information came from the cars’ logbooks.
The closely fought contest featured strong performances across originality, finish and underside condition.
Kevit Desai’s 1968 Jaguar 420 finished third overall with 270 points.
Umang Patel followed in fourth with his 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL on 267 points.
Safari Rally winner Baldev Chager completed the top five with his 1986 Nissan Silvia 200SX.
Chager’s Nissan scored 265 points during the competition.
The annual event brought together classic cars, utility vehicles, touring cars and motorcycles.
Judges assessed originality, restoration quality, finish and roadworthiness across the different categories.
Indian Scout Beats Triumph by One Point
Rick Agagliate’s 1941 Indian Scout 741 won the motorcycle title with 176 points.
The Indian edged Dominique Antoine’s 1925 Triumph 550SD by just one point.
The Triumph ranked among the oldest motorcycles entered at this year’s competition.
Motorcycle chief judge Robert Gow said the category attracted 35 entries.
However, some registered entrants did not turn up for the competition.
Gow highlighted the wide range of motorcycles displayed during the event.
He also singled out Antoine’s Triumph as one of the notable entries.
Land Rover and Toyota Lead Utility Classes
Cloth My Ride (EAT) won Class 1 with a 1999 Land Rover Defender.
The vehicle scored 189 points in the utility category for models built after 1980.
James Nguo’s 1996 Mercedes-Benz 290GD finished second with 181 points.
Kelvin Leiyan’s 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser followed in third with 163 points.
Joshua Bily’s 1991 Peugeot 504 Pick-Up completed the class on 144 points.
Meanwhile, Chirag Soni narrowly won Class 2 with his 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55.
Soni scored 200 points, beating Don Owino’s 1979 Range Rover Classic by two points.
The Range Rover finished second with 198 points.
Martin Sharrif Butt won the utility class for vehicles built up to 1970.
His 1957 Chevrolet 3100 took the top position in the category.
Reid Arensen’s 1959 Land Rover Series II finished second.
Benson Muli’s 1970 Volkswagen Kombi Westfalia came third.
Bernd Trompell’s 1968 Land Rover Series IIA completed the class standings.
Volkswagens Shine in Touring Categories
Elizabeth and Dereck Dames won Class 5 with their 1968 Volkswagen Beetle.
The car scored 228 points in the 1,001cc to 1,500cc touring category.
Jane Chemngorem’s 1960 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia finished second with 222 points.
Capt Mugo Keiyoro’s 1972 Volkswagen Beetle followed closely on 221 points.
Imran Khan’s 1956 Volkswagen Beetle Deluxe completed the top four with 210 points.
Paul Chemngorem won Class 6 with his 1975 Toyota Celica.
The car scored 222 points in the 1,501cc to 1,700cc category.
Avraj Singh’s 1980 Alfa Romeo Sud Sprint finished second with 220 points.
Leiyan’s 1979 Mitsubishi Gallant took third with 195 points.
Chager Preserves Kenya’s Rallying History
Beyond his fifth-place overall finish, Chager’s Nissan Silvia carried a piece of Kenya’s rallying history.
The former Nissan factory car competed in several Safari Rallies and national events.
Jayant Shah drove the car during events in Kenya and Tanzania.
Chager said he has owned the Nissan for 18 years.
He also spent 11 years restoring the historic competition car.
However, the restoration focused on preserving its original competition identity.
The project recreated the colours Shah used during the 1990 season.
As a result, the Nissan retained a distinctive link to Kenya’s rallying heritage.
Its appearance added another layer of motorsport history to the classic-car showcase at Ngong Racecourse.
