Mudavadi ICC talks on October 15 focused on justice, peaceful dispute resolution and international cooperation. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi met International Criminal Court Deputy Prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan for the discussions.

After the meeting, Mudavadi called for stronger institutions and constructive dialogue to build public trust in justice. He also linked those priorities to Kenya’s national stability.

Mudavadi ICC talks address accountability

Mudavadi said the engagement highlighted the need for a balanced approach to accountability and the rule of law. That approach, he added, should also respect Kenya’s sovereignty.

He maintained that citizens’ rights and Kenyans’ well-being should guide discussions involving international justice institutions. For Mudavadi, the central concerns were protecting rights, strengthening confidence in justice and building a peaceful, stable nation.

Justice and sovereignty should advance together

The Prime Cabinet Secretary said justice and sovereignty should not compete with each other. Instead, he urged strong institutions and constructive engagement to advance both principles together.

He also emphasised the importance of international cooperation in promoting accountability and upholding the rule of law. Alongside that cooperation, Mudavadi identified peaceful dispute resolution as an important part of advancing those goals.
