Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba has won Female Presenter of the Year for the second consecutive year. She received the honour at the 2026 Starbrands East Africa Awards, alongside the Airwaves Legacy Builder Award.
The two awards recognised her broadcasting work, with the latter also earning her recognition as Queen of the Airwaves. Her latest success follows her Female Presenter of the Year win at the 2025 edition.
Muthoni wa Kirumba thanks supporters
Following the announcement, Muthoni celebrated the achievement in a social media post and thanked the organisers for recognising her work. She also dedicated the honour to Dr Kasweetie, saying the crown belonged to them despite carrying her name.
The presenter credited her supporters’ love, loyalty and encouragement for helping make the victory possible. Rather than presenting the award as a personal achievement alone, she described it as a shared milestone.
She later marked the occasion with a cake-cutting celebration attended by fellow radio presenters, celebrities and other personalities. Businesswoman Damaris Muriithi, widely known as Dama Mobile Spares, was among those who joined the celebration.
A growing list of broadcasting honours
The latest awards add to Muthoni’s honours in vernacular broadcasting, where she has built a following among Kikuyu-speaking listeners. Her audience also extends to social media, with more than 1.6 million followers on Facebook alone.
At Kameme FM, she currently co-hosts a mid-morning programme with Chef Gathemba. Before that partnership, she spent eight years co-hosting the show with well-known Kikuyu comedian Kihenjo.
The 2026 ceremony therefore marks another milestone for the presenter, combining a repeat category win with recognition through the Airwaves Legacy Builder Award.
