Karua said she received news of his death while travelling back to Nairobi.
She remembered her father as a principled teacher who valued character, education and doing what was right.
Karua also described him as a loving and supportive father who encouraged her throughout her life and career.
She said his guidance and encouragement remained an important part of her life.
