Salah Accuses Liverpool of Betrayal as Exit Looms
Salah Hits Out After Third Consecutive Bench Snub
Mohamed Salah has launched a fierce attack on Liverpool after sitting out a third straight match. The winger said the club “threw him under the bus” during their 3–3 draw with Leeds and blamed him for their poor start to the season. He warned that his future at Anfield now looks uncertain.
Salah said he felt betrayed and disrespected. He insisted he has never sat on the bench for this long in his career.
“I’ve done so much for this club,” he said. “Now I’m on the bench and nobody explains why.”
Claims of Being Made a Scapegoat
Salah suggested someone inside the club wants him to carry the blame for the team’s struggles. He refused to name the person.
He reminded the club of his achievements — four Golden Boots, multiple Player of the Year awards, and a huge role in Liverpool’s two Premier League titles. Despite that, he now feels unwanted.
Hints at Final Anfield Appearance
Salah said next week’s match against Brighton might be his last for Liverpool. He will join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations right after.
He even told his mother to attend the game because he doesn’t know what will happen next. “In my head, I’m going to enjoy that game. I don’t know what comes after,” he said.
When asked if it could truly be his final match, he replied: “In football, you never know. But I don’t accept this situation.”
Promises Broken and Respect Lost
Salah said he agreed to a new contract after the club made several promises. He now believes the club has failed to honour them.
“If this was another club, they would protect their players,” he said. “Right now it feels like: ‘Throw Mo under the bus. He is the problem.’ But I’m not the problem.”
Salah insisted he earned his place and should not fight for respect after years of delivering goals and trophies.

Double Standards and Mounting Frustration
The forward also complained about media treatment. He compared his situation with Harry Kane’s past goal drought. “When Kane wasn’t scoring, the message was: ‘He will score soon.’ When it’s Mo, people say, ‘Bench him.’”
Interest from Saudi Arabia continues, but he avoided discussing it. “I don’t want to answer because the club will twist it,” he said.
He also dismissed the idea that he regrets signing a new contract. “I thought I would finish my career here,” he said. “I didn’t expect things to go this way.”
“Why Should It End Like This?”
Salah questioned why his time at Liverpool might end so painfully. He said he is still fit and performing at a high level.
“Five months ago, I won every individual award. So why is it ending this way?” he asked.
