High Court Halts Karen Wedding Set for Tomorrow
The High Court stopped a wedding scheduled for tomorrow, December 6, 2025, at a residence in Karen, Nairobi. The court declared the matter urgent and noted that the dispute involves family issues that parties should resolve through negotiation or mediation.
Court Certifies Application as Urgent
Court documents show that the judge certified the application as urgent after reviewing the claims. The court then directed officials to serve the respondent personally ahead of an inter parties mention scheduled for today, December 5, 2025, at 3 p.m.
Temporary Injunction Stops Planned Ceremony
Meanwhile, the court issued a temporary injunction that blocks the respondent and her agents from proceeding with the wedding. The order restrains anyone acting on her behalf from conducting, facilitating, or participating in the ceremony planned for Saturday. The injunction will remain in force until the inter parties mention provides further directions.
Father Claims Exclusion Caused Emotional Distress
Nairobi businessman Francis Julius Ogallo filed the case, accusing his former wife, Gladys Ong’ayo Ogallo, of excluding him from their daughter’s wedding. He argues that the exclusion caused emotional distress and exposed him to public humiliation. He further claims that the conduct amounts to emotional abuse under the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act.
Applicant Alleges Misrepresentation and Past Humiliation
Through his lawyer, Danstan Omari, Ogallo claims the respondent misrepresented his views on the choice of clergy. He also accuses her of spreading false allegations and sharing his private communication to justify excluding him. He adds that she displayed similar conduct during their eldest daughter’s 2021 wedding.
Ogallo Denies Allegations Reported to Investigators
Ogallo insists that he does not oppose the wedding. Instead, he says he only questioned the clergy due to past defamatory conduct. He argues that the respondent twisted his concerns to lock him out of the ceremony. In his affidavit, he reveals that someone reported him to the DCI over alleged threats—claims he denies. A summons dated November 12, 2025, was attached to his application.
Court to Issue Further Directions Today
The High Court will issue additional directions after the inter parties mention scheduled for later today.
