Trump lookalike inside a mock prison cell at Tajrish Square in Tehran

A public installation at Tajrish Square places a performer dressed as Donald Trump behind bars amid strained US-Iran relations.

A Trump lookalike is performing inside a mock prison cell at Tajrish Square in northern Tehran. The public art installation has drawn attention amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States.

The billboard-style structure features a three-dimensional cage that extends outwards from the display. Video footage shows the performer walking around inside the enclosure and occasionally sitting down.

Meanwhile, motorists and pedestrians pass the installation as traffic moves through the busy intersection. The display carries a message declaring that failing to see the scene amounts to a crime.

Nearby signs reportedly reference an alleged US military airstrike on a wedding gathering in Sirkik, southern Iran. The alleged attack took place in early September.

Iranian state media reported that the strike killed two women and two children. They also reported injuries to more than 60 other civilians.

Those casualty figures remain claims attributed to Iranian state media, rather than independently established findings. The nearby signs connect the performance to allegations about US military actions.

Political installations in Tehran

The installation also fits a wider pattern of political messaging in the Iranian capital. Public billboards and art displays frequently criticise US and other Western policies amid strained relations with Washington.

Tehran has previously hosted another display targeting Trump, this time at Enghelab Square. Reports described a February 2026 installation depicting him in a coffin.

That display followed the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli airstrike. Separately, anti-American rhetoric has featured in public demonstrations and religious gatherings in Iran.

Some hardline figures have also issued threats against Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The latest Tajrish Square installation uses a live performer and a mock cell to convey its political message.
