Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were died from multiple internal injuries caused by five gunshot wounds, a government autopsy has revealed. The post-mortem, conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, concluded that the injuries were so severe they resulted in massive internal bleeding and multiple organ failure.
Fatal Bullet Wounds to Vital Organs Led to MP Charles Ong’ondo
According to the autopsy findings, two bullets struck the MP’s left forearm. This is with one exiting the body while the other remained lodged. Two more bullets entered through the left side of his chest; one passed through and exited on the opposite side. This is while the other ripped through vital organs including the lungs, liver, heart, and major blood vessels before embedding in his spine. A fifth bullet entered through the upper back and was also found lodged internally.
These injuries caused rapid blood loss and critical damage to internal systems, leading to the MP’s death shortly after the shooting.
Attack Along Ngong Road
The incident took place on the evening of April 30, along Ngong Road near City Mortuary. Reports indicate that the MP’s vehicle was being trailed by a motorcycle before the assailant disembarked and fired at close range. The MP was in the car with his driver and bodyguard at the time both of whom escaped unharmed.
The brazen daylight shooting has shocked the nation and raised fresh concerns about political violence and public safety in urban centers.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the assassination. Investigators believe they are linked to a broader criminal network involved in organized robberies across Nairobi. The suspects are currently in custody, as authorities work to piece together the motive behind the targeted killing.
