Kakamega Shock as Woman Burns Husband and Child
A domestic violence incident shocked residents of Shivagala, Kakamega South Sub-County after a woman allegedly attacked her husband and a 16-month-old child with boiling water.
Consequently, police launched an immediate investigation into the brutal assault. Additionally, witnesses described the incident as sudden and deeply disturbing.
The confrontation reportedly began after a family dispute inside the home.
Family Tension Escalates After Home Introduction
According to reports, Danston Isundwa Mmbehi arrived at his matrimonial home accompanied by another woman and a toddler. He introduced Fransisca Makhokha as his second wife.
Additionally, he explained that they had a child together. Consequently, tensions rose immediately within the household.
The first wife, Mary Mmbone Khalechi, initially received the visitors before heading to the kitchen.
Attack Unfolds Inside the Household
Khalechi allegedly entered the kitchen and prepared boiling water while making tea. Moments later, she returned carrying a sufuria of hot water.
Consequently, she poured it on her husband while he held the child on his chest. The attack caused severe burns to both victims. Additionally, neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing distress calls.

Victims Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Medical teams rushed both victims to Kakamega General Hospital. Doctors confirmed that the toddler sustained severe burns and remains in critical condition.
Additionally, the father continues to receive emergency medical care. Consequently, health workers remain on high alert due to the seriousness of the injuries.
Family members continue gathering at the hospital seeking updates on their condition.
Suspect Flees as Police Launch Manhunt
Police confirmed that the suspect fled immediately after the incident. Officers recorded a report at Malaika Police Station and began investigations.
