Olekina Champions Youth for 2027 Leadership Race

Ledama Olekina has called for support of young Kenyans seeking elective office in 2027. On March 2026, he urged youth aged 22 to 35 to step into leadership roles. However, many lack financial resources to run competitive campaigns.

Therefore, Olekina aims to mentor and support a new generation of leaders. He wants to help them build viable campaigns and navigate Kenya’s political landscape.

Targeting Young and Educated Leaders

Firstly, the initiative focuses on individuals aged between 22 and 35 years. Additionally, Olekina invites graduates in Political Science, Communication, Social Development, and Finance. He believes these skills strengthen leadership capacity and governance.

Moreover, the program targets youth across the country. However, it prioritizes five counties for initial support. These include Narok County, Kajiado County, Samburu County, Laikipia County, and Marsabit County.

Plan to Support 94 Youth Candidates

Importantly, Olekina plans to support 94 young leaders nationwide. This includes two candidates from each of Kenya’s 47 counties. He encourages them to contest Senate and Governor positions.

By doing so, he aims to expand youth representation in top leadership roles. Consequently, the initiative could reshape Kenya’s political future.ledama

Addressing Political Barriers

Olekina has consistently criticized the recycling of older politicians. He argues that this trend limits opportunities for young leaders. Therefore, he advocates for structured mentorship in leadership.

For instance, he proposes mandatory deputization in leadership positions. Leaders aged above 45 should work with deputies aged 35 and below. This approach would promote mentorship and smooth leadership transition.

Encouraging Gen Z Political Participation

Furthermore, Olekina urges young people to engage actively in governance. He highlights the growing influence of Gen Z in shaping public discourse.
This follows increased civic awareness after the June 2025 protests. As a result, youth participation in politics continues to gain momentum.

How to Access the Opportunity

Finally, Olekina encourages aspiring leaders to reach out directly. They can contact him through social media or official communication channels. This allows them to explore mentorship and campaign support opportunities.

Overall, the initiative seeks to empower youth and strengthen democracy. With mentorship and financial support, young leaders can compete effectively. Ultimately, this effort could transform Kenya’s leadership landscape in 2027.
