Alpha Onyango scores in the 84th minute as Gor Mahia beat APS Bomet 1-0 and move two points clear of KCB.

A late Gor Mahia win over APS Bomet kept the defending champions perfect in the 2026-2027 SportPesa Premier League. Alpha Onyango scored in the 84th minute to secure Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County.

The result gave K’Ogalo their second victory in two matches and lifted them to six points. They now lead KCB by two points after the bankers also won 1-0 against Mathare United.

Gor Mahia win builds on opening success

Gor had opened their title defence last Tuesday by beating Murang’a Seal 4-2 at Nyayo Stadium. However, they had to wait until the closing stages to find the decisive goal against APS Bomet.

Onyango’s strike settled the contest and ensured the champions collected another three points. The narrow victory also gave Gor their first clean sheet of the campaign after conceding twice in their opener.

Assis delivers KCB’s first victory

Meanwhile, KCB claimed their first league win of the season at Police Sacco Stadium. New signing Mambote Batshi Assis came off the bench to score the winner against Mathare United.

His goal secured three points for Robert Matano’s side following their opening 2-2 draw against Nairobi United. As a result, KCB moved to four points from their first two matches.

Both Saturday winners therefore improved on different starts: Gor added to an opening victory, while KCB followed a draw with success.

Three Sunday fixtures offer early tests

The league programme continues on Sunday with three matches, all scheduled to begin at 3pm. Mara Sugar host Posta Rangers at St Sebastian Park after drawing 2-2 with 3K in their opener.

Posta, meanwhile, will seek their first points after losing 1-0 to Shabana. Kakamega Homeboyz also return to action, welcoming Ulinzi Stars to Bukungu Stadium.

Homeboyz began with a 1-0 victory over newly promoted Mombasa United and will target another win. In contrast, Ulinzi enter the fixture seeking a response to their 2-0 defeat against Tusker.

At Afraha Stadium, Shabana host Nairobi United with both teams looking to build on unbeaten starts. Shabana took three points against Posta, while Nairobi United earned one against KCB.

Monday and Tuesday league schedule

Next week’s action begins with Mara Sugar hosting Mombasa United at Green Stadium in Awendo on Monday. That match kicks off at 2pm, giving Mombasa another opportunity to collect their first top-flight points.

Later on Monday, Bandari face 3K at Mbaraki Sports Club, with kick-off set for 4.15pm. Kenya Police then meet AFC Leopards at Nyayo National Stadium on Tuesday at 3pm.
