Queen Mary of Denmark Begins Three-Day Visit to Kenya

Strengthening Kenya–Denmark Relations

Queen Mary of Denmark arrived in Nairobi for a three-day official visit aimed at boosting bilateral ties. Her visit seeks to deepen cooperation in climate action, development partnerships, and renewable energy.

Warm Welcome at JKIA

The Queen landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday evening. Musalia Mudavadi, Rebecca Miano, and Governor Johnson Sakaja received her.

Focus on Climate and Conservation

Her tour aligns with Kenya’s push to lead regional climate diplomacy. She will explore conservation programs on the coast that protect endangered species. Kenya has earned global praise for these long-running initiatives.

Promoting Circular Economy Efforts

Additionally, the Queen will visit Nairobi landfills and waste-management sites. These projects show Kenya’s efforts to advance a circular economy. They highlight both persistent waste challenges and emerging green opportunities.

Participation in UNEA-7

During her stay, the Queen will join UNEA-7 at the UN offices in Gigiri. The event brings global leaders together to address environmental policy.

Boosting Green Partnerships

Kenya hopes the visit will expand cooperation in wind energy, green financing, and climate-smart urban development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the visit supports Kenya’s climate goals and Denmark’s leadership in sustainable solutions.

Recent Royal Engagements in Africa

This trip is the Queen’s second African visit in two months. She recently toured Egypt for a Danish Embassy event and visited the Pyramids with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Kenya’s Message of Welcome

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed a warm welcome to the Queen and praised the visit’s significance.
