New Security Command Centre to Boost Safety
Landmark Decision to Reinforce Security
On December 15, the Cabinet approved the National Integrated Security Command and Control Centre. Moreover, the move aims to modernize Kenya’s security infrastructure and strengthen national safety.
Replacement of Outdated Platform
The new centre will replace the current obsolete system. Additionally, it will provide real-time monitoring and coordinated responses for public safety.
Advanced Technology Integration
The centre will use CCTV, sensors, and communication systems. Consequently, it will deliver situational awareness and unified security operations nationwide.
Real-Time Intelligence Sharing
The system will connect all security agencies seamlessly. Therefore, agencies will share intelligence and coordinate responses instantly.
Initial Rollout in Key Towns
The Cabinet confirmed deployment in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, and border counties. Furthermore, these areas will serve as priority zones for enhanced security.
Modernized Public Safety Infrastructure
The centre will form part of a wider initiative to modernize public safety. Consequently, it will enhance coordinated national security operations.
Land Reserved for Security Development
Two months earlier, the National Land Commission reserved 1,974 hectares in Tana River for security projects. Moreover, the land will support National Intelligence Service infrastructure development.
Gazette Notice Confirms Reservation
NLC Chair Gershom Otachi issued a gazette notice on October 26. Additionally, the notice vested care and control of Masalani Block 1/2 to NIS.
Strict Land Management Rules
The commission stated that the reserved land cannot be transferred or relinquished. Therefore, written approval from NLC will be required for any changes.
