Nigerian Army Rescues Worshippers After Easter Church Attack

The Nigerian Army rescued worshippers after a deadly Easter attack in Kaduna State. Armed gunmen stormed two churches on April 5, 2026, during services. Consequently, the incident left several people dead and dozens abducted.

Gunmen Attack Churches in Kaduna

The attackers targeted a Catholic and an Evangelical church in Ariko village. This village lies within Kachia Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

Locals commonly refer to such attackers as bandits operating across the region. They often carry out coordinated assaults on vulnerable communities. As a result, fear and insecurity continue to affect residents in the area.

Initial reports confirm that at least five to seven worshippers died. Many others sustained injuries during the chaotic attack. Meanwhile, the gunmen abducted dozens of worshippers from the churches. Therefore, the situation quickly escalated into a major security crisis.

Military Launches Swift Rescue Operation

Following a distress call, troops quickly mobilized to the scene. Local residents guided the soldiers toward the attackers’ escape route. Subsequently, the military pursued the gunmen into a nearby forest. A fierce firefight broke out between troops and the attackers.
