NTSA Suspends 62 PSV Drivers After Festive Season Crackdown
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the licences of 62 public service vehicle (PSV) drivers after uncovering serious violations during its festive season compliance checks.
In a statement on Tuesday, December 9, the agency confirmed that the suspensions affected drivers from six major matatu Saccos.
Tahmeed Express Limited recorded the highest number, with 23 drivers ordered to undergo fresh re-testing. Latema Travellers Bus and Safari Company Limited followed with 13 drivers, while Meru Nissan Operators Sacco had 10 suspended.
Moline Prestige Services Shuttle Limited had six drivers affected, MTrans Sacco Limited had seven, and Enabled Mashariki Investment Limited had three — bringing the total to 62.

NTSA said the drivers must now undergo mandatory re-testing to prove they are competent and fit to operate on Kenyan roads.
The authority also directed the affected Saccos to conduct road safety awareness training for all their drivers and present selected vehicles for inspection.
“The re-testing exercise is part of NTSA’s broader proactive efforts to ensure every driver has the skills and competence required to operate safely on our roads,” the agency said.
