Ruto Showcases Rapid Progress at 60,000-Seater Talanta Sports City

President William Ruto has highlighted fresh construction progress at Talanta Sports City. Notably, he shared a selfie-style video from the active building site. Consequently, the clip quickly circulated across Kenyan social media.

Walking through the site, Ruto addressed long-standing public scepticism. He filmed rising concrete structures and heavy machinery behind him. Meanwhile, workers continued construction during the presidential tour.

President Responds to Critics

Ruto used the visit to confront doubts about the project’s timeline. Previously, critics questioned whether the stadium would materialize. However, the President insisted visible progress now answers those concerns.

He emphasized that his administration trusted the construction process. Therefore, he framed the site as proof of government commitment.

“They were busy doubting, but we trusted the process,” he said.

He added that Kenyans will appreciate the final result.

Accordingly, the visit doubled as a public reassurance message. Ruto described the stadium as a landmark national investment.talanta

Purpose-Built Arena for Football and Rugby

Talanta Sports City is rising at Nairobi’s historic Jamhuri Grounds. Importantly, the design focuses exclusively on football and rugby. Unlike older stadiums, the arena will not include a running track.

As a result, fans will sit closer to the pitch. The stadium will accommodate approximately 60,000 spectators.

Furthermore, planners designed the facility for international competition standards. The project forms a central pillar of Kenya’s AFCON 2027 preparations.

Kenya will co-host the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania. Therefore, the stadium must meet Confederation of African Football requirements.

Fast-Tracked Road to 2027

China Road and Bridge Corporation leads the construction works. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports continues overseeing deadlines. Officials previously confirmed the project runs on a fast-track schedule.

Additionally, the site remains busy with round-the-clock activity. Workers continue assembling the main structural stands. Ultimately, the government hopes public doubt turns into anticipation. The stadium symbolizes Kenya’s ambition on the continental stage.
