Babu Owino Confident Bobi Wine Will Win Uganda Elections
Embakasi MP Babu Owino has expressed strong confidence that Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine will win the presidential race. He highlighted the ongoing intimidation and systematic restrictions by state authorities.
Political Environment in Uganda Is Restrictive
During a TV interview on January 14, 2026, Babu Owino said Uganda’s campaign environment is far from free.
He argued that voters and candidates face unusual limitations, affecting the fairness of the elections.
Bobi Wine Campaigns Under Threat
Babu noted that Bobi Wine has campaigned under heavy security, often wearing bulletproof vests.
“Campaigning under such conditions is not normal. Police try to stop him from reaching voters,” he said.
Restrictions Strengthen Bobi Wine’s Support
According to Owino, police blockages and movement restrictions aim to frustrate Bobi Wine’s campaign.
However, these actions have only increased his popularity among Ugandan youth.
Internet Shutdown Signals Electoral Manipulation
Babu criticized the government for shutting down the internet during the election period.
“This clearly shows manipulation. I told Bobi that President Museveni’s actions are transparent,” Owino said.
Youth and Boldness Drive Uganda’s Future
Using a metaphor, Babu said leadership gravitates toward the young and bold.
He emphasized that Bobi Wine represents Uganda’s future. “I am sure Bobi Wine will win,” he concluded.
