Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Rally Faces Teargas Disruption in Kakamega

Ahead of the Kakamega rally on February 21, teargas canisters disrupted preparations at Amalemba grounds.
Images show plain clothed police officers throwing the canisters, causing panic among event organizers.
Western Region Police Commander Issa Mohamud claimed he received intelligence that armed individuals would attend. Moreover, Mohamud stated that no permit request was submitted for the rally.
Leaders Expected at the Event
The Kakamega rally will feature Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Siaya Governor James Orengo. Other allied leaders are also expected to address supporters and discuss governance reforms.
Authorities have warned about potential security risks if the rally proceeds without proper notification.

Images obtained show large crowds flooding the Amalemba grounds despite police teargas. Organizers insist the event will continue as planned, emphasizing peaceful engagement with citizens.
