Oburu Odinga Clarifies ODM‑UDA Pact at Migori Rally
On Sunday, 1 March 2026, at a vibrant Linda Ground rally in Migori, Oburu Odinga spoke directly to supporters. Furthermore, he clarified the ongoing ODM‑UDA political pact. Additionally, he addressed misunderstandings and set expectations ahead of key political milestones.
Oburu Odinga dismissed rumours claiming the pact with UDA would end on 7 March 2026. Instead, he explained that the date marks the first anniversary of the agreement.
Moreover, the party plans to table an interim report on the 10‑point agenda to assess progress. Consequently, the pact continues with no termination scheduled.
Rally Message: Progress and Coalition Talks
At the rally, Oburu said ODM remains open to strategic cooperation with like‑minded political formations. Meanwhile, discussions with UDA could continue regarding power-sharing and joint governance objectives.
Furthermore, these talks aim to strengthen the coalition ahead of the 2027 general election.
ODM chairperson Gladys Wanga also spoke. She urged supporters to stay committed to the pact while dismissing claims it limits ODM’s ambitions.

Oburu’s remarks come amid internal debates in ODM. However, Migori leadership confirmed the pact remains central to ODM’s strategy. Thus, the party maintains its commitment to collaboration with UDA.
