Sadio Mané Opens Up on Salah and Burnley Bust-Up

Sadio Mané has lifted the lid on his complex relationship with Mohamed Salah, admitting their fiery confrontation during Liverpool’s clash with Burnley in 2019 changed everything between them. The Senegalese forward famously exploded on the bench after Salah chose to shoot instead of making what appeared to be a simple pass.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Mané recalled, “I was really, really angry after the game. The next day he came to me and said, ‘Can we talk?’ He thought I was still angry because we went home without speaking.”

Mané said Salah explained that he simply reacted instinctively in the moment. “He told me, ‘I didn’t even see you. I just got the ball and wanted to shoot.’” According to Mané, that honest conversation became a turning point. “Since that day, we became even closer. As strikers, sometimes you only see the goal. I knew it wasn’t personal.”

Despite forming one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attacking trios, Mané surprised many by naming Andy Robertson as his best career partner. “Me and Robbo… it was natural. He helped me, I helped him. It was real teamwork,” he said.

Their rivalry may have been intense, but Mané insists the respect between him and Salah always held firm, on and off the pitch.
