What’s Been Frozen

The scope of frozen assets is extensive. Specifically, the couple is barred from selling, transferring, leasing or dealing with 19 parcels of land, 18 motor vehicles, and funds held in their bank accounts.

Additionally, the court specifically froze Ksh16.9 million held within their bank accounts.

The case began with a dramatic discovery. Specifically, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission moved to court after raiding the couple’s home and recovering Ksh65 million in cash.

Administrative Fallout at County Level

The scandal has triggered immediate administrative consequences. Specifically, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja suspended Patrick Analoh to pave the way for investigations.

Furthermore, the Governor also suspended the entire Urban Planning Technical Committee. Consequently, the processing of all development approvals in Nairobi has been completely halted until the committee is fully reconstituted.

This freeze has real consequences for the city’s construction sector. Specifically, with approvals paused indefinitely, developers and residents across Nairobi face delays until the committee resumes operations.
