American rapper Cardi B has recognised Kenyan TikTok creator Khesir Johnson after his animated performance of her track Check Please spread online, bringing international attention to the Kericho-based entertainer.
The rapper left the words “Period uncle” in the video’s comments section using her verified account. Her brief response attracted hundreds of likes and prompted an excited reply from Khesir, whose content often features a backdrop of banana plants.
The exchange became a talking point among Kenyan social media users, who celebrated the creator’s recognition and joked about what his new level of attention might mean.
A banana plantation performance catches attention
In the clip, Khesir mouths the lyrics to Check Please while performing among green banana trees. The track appeared on Cardi B’s album Am I the Drama?, released in September 2025.
His energetic delivery and exaggerated facial expressions reflect the style that has helped him attract a growing TikTok following. Humour and expressive performances are central to his videos, with the banana plantation setting becoming a familiar part of his content.
