Charlene Ruto joins traditional performers during her airport welcome in Tanzania.
President William Ruto’s daughter will marry technology entrepreneur Isaya Yunge, with family and friends expected from Kenya and Tanzania.
Charlene Ruto has arrived in Tanzania ahead of her Mwanza wedding to technology entrepreneur Isaya Yunge. The couple expect to hold their white wedding on November 6, 2026.
A video shared online shows President William Ruto’s daughter dancing alongside traditional performers during her airport welcome. She also wore a sash bearing the word Tanzania as she joined the celebrations.
The ceremony will bring together the couple’s families, friends and invited guests from Kenya and Tanzania. Meanwhile, her arrival marks the latest stage in celebrations leading up to their marriage.
Mwanza wedding follows Nairobi bridal shower
Before travelling to Tanzania, Charlene celebrated her bridal shower in Nairobi with friends and family. That gathering came days before her arrival for the wedding.
The bridal shower followed the couple’s traditional Kalenjin engagement ceremony, known as Koito, on August 8, 2026. They held the ceremony in Kilgoris, Narok County, bringing together members of both families.
During the Koito, the families formally recognised the couple’s relationship in keeping with Kalenjin traditions. The forthcoming white wedding will now mark another milestone in their marriage celebrations.
Yunge hails from Mwanza, the Tanzanian city chosen for the wedding. He founded SomaApps, an education technology platform that connects African students with scholarship opportunities.
