Bongo Star Search 2026 Heads to Nairobi as Regional Expansion Begins
Auditions for Bongo Star Search 2026 will land in Nairobi on March 7 and 8. The auditions will take place at the Hilton Nairobi.
This marks the first official Kenyan registration in the show’s history. Consequently, Kenyan creatives now have a direct pathway to the regional stage.
Season 16 carries the theme “Next Level Revolution.” Therefore, organizers promise a bigger and more inclusive competition.
When Bongo Star Search Started
Bongo Star Search first premiered in 2006 in Tanzania. The show was created to discover and nurture East African musical talent.
Over the years, it has grown into one of the region’s biggest talent platforms. Notably, it has shaped careers and transformed unknown singers into stars.
Founder and chief judge Rita Paulsen has overseen its growth since inception. Under her leadership, the competition continues to evolve.
Winners Since the Show Began
Since 2006, Bongo Star Search has produced several celebrated winners. The inaugural season crowned Ashura as the first BSS champion. Later seasons introduced artists who dominated Tanzanian airwaves.
Notably, Emmanuel Elibariki, popularly known as Navy Kenzo’s Aika’s husband, gained recognition after winning.
Additionally, other winners leveraged the platform to secure recording deals. Each season has consistently elevated new voices into mainstream entertainment. As a result, BSS remains a respected launchpad for regional stars.
A Massive Prize Pool in 2026
This year, the competition raises the stakes significantly.
The Season 16 winner will receive a brand-new car. Moreover, the champion will pocket $20,000, approximately KES 2.5 million.
This life-changing package aims to support a global career launch.
Beyond Singing: Expanded Talent Categories
Unlike previous seasons, 2026 expands beyond vocal performance. Now, dancers, acrobats, comedians, and visual artists can compete.
Therefore, the platform embraces diverse creative expressions. Organizers seek the brightest talent across East Africa.
Where to Watch the Show
The new season premieres on March 21 or 22, 2026. Fans can watch via Azam TV on Sinema Zetu Channel 106. Additionally, viewers can stream through the AzamTV Max App.
In Kenya, TV47 and Radio 47 will support coverage. Ultimately, Bongo Star Search 2026 promises a true regional entertainment revolution.
