Eric Omondi Announces 486km Charity Walk from Nairobi to Mombasa
Kenyan entertainer Eric Omondi is preparing for a bold humanitarian journey. Beginning February 10, he will walk from Nairobi to Mombasa.
The comedian plans to cover 486 kilometres entirely on foot. As a result, the trek aims to raise funds for a rescue centre. He announced the mission on Instagram earlier this week. Immediately afterward, supporters rallied behind the initiative.
Omondi will start at Nairobi Stadium and finish at Mama Ngina Waterfront. Notably, he expects to arrive on Valentine’s Day.
A Walk of Love for Kenyans
Omondi describes the mission as a “walk of love.”
Therefore, the timing intentionally matches Valentine’s celebrations. The funds will support the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre. In essence, he envisions it as a sanctuary for struggling Kenyans.
He wants the centre to provide immediate emergency assistance. Consequently, the walk carries both symbolic and practical weight.
Four Key Facilities Planned
The rescue centre will feature four essential facilities.
- First, a warehouse will store donated supplies.
Already, supporters have pledged cement, food, and building materials.
- Additionally, the centre will operate two ambulances.
These vehicles will support emergency rescues and medical transport.
- Furthermore, a clinic will deliver basic healthcare services.
Omondi also plans to establish a free secondary school. As a result, vulnerable children will gain educational opportunities.
Progress of the Sisi Kwa Sisi Initiative
Importantly, the initiative already shows measurable community impact. Over two years, the team handled 208 active cases. However, many urgent cases still remain unresolved. Therefore, Omondi views the walk as a critical fundraising push.
At the same time, the journey doubles as a public awareness campaign. Upon arrival, Mombasa County will host a celebration event.
From Comedy to Activism
Omondi first rose to fame through stand-up comedy. Subsequently, he became a household name on the Churchill Show.
In recent years, however, he pivoted toward social activism. He now uses his platform to support vulnerable families. He has raised millions for medical bills and school fees. Ultimately, the walk symbolizes his growing humanitarian mission.
