EPRA raises pump prices in its latest monthly review, increasing fuel costs for motorists and businesses until mid-November.
Fuel prices have risen after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced increases on October 14. Motorists will pay an additional Sh12.93 per litre of Super Petrol and Sh9.90 per litre of Diesel.
The latest adjustments raise fuel bills for motorists, public transport operators and businesses that depend on petroleum products. The new prices will remain in force until the next scheduled review in mid-November.
Higher fuel prices add pressure on transport costs
The increases mean motorists will spend more to buy the same amount of petrol or diesel. Meanwhile, public transport operators face higher fuel costs for their daily services.
Businesses that rely on fuel also face added pressure on their operating expenses. Higher costs for moving goods could, in turn, affect the prices consumers pay for essential commodities.
However, those wider effects remain potential consequences rather than confirmed changes to fares or retail prices. The immediate change is the increase in the amount motorists pay per litre at the pump.
Next EPRA review due in mid-November
EPRA reviews pump prices every month, taking account of several factors that affect petroleum costs. These include the cost of imported products, the exchange rate and other applicable expenses.
For now, the October adjustments set the cost framework for fuel users until mid-November. The next scheduled review will determine pump prices for the following monthly cycle.
