Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has promised his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, an unforgettable birthday celebration as the couple marks 37 years of marriage.
In a heartfelt message, Gachagua reflected on their decades together and vowed to give Dorcas an even bigger celebration next year. However, his reference to the country’s “most coveted address” has also attracted attention.
Gachagua Makes Special Promise to Dorcas
Gachagua celebrated his wife with an affectionate tribute, praising their long journey together and acknowledging the promises he had made throughout their marriage.
He expressed determination to fulfil a special commitment to Dorcas, suggesting that her next birthday would be unlike any celebration they had held before.
“In our 37 years of marriage, I have made you many promises and kept most of them,” Gachagua wrote.
He added that this was one promise he “SHALL honour and MUST honour,” before pledging to organise the biggest birthday bash ever at the country’s “most coveted address.”
The message portrayed Dorcas as an important part of his personal journey, with Gachagua expressing hope that they would celebrate another milestone together next year.
Gachagua Reflects on Difficult Times
The former deputy president also recalled the challenges the couple experienced during the political turmoil surrounding his impeachment in October 2024.
He remembered Dorcas’s birthday that year, which coincided with a difficult period in his political career. Gachagua described feeling humiliated and disgraced, while acknowledging the support he received from his wife during the turbulent period.
His tribute highlighted the role Dorcas played in helping their family navigate the uncertainty surrounding his removal from office.

A Birthday Promise That Sparked Speculation
Although Gachagua’s message centred on his wife, his reference to the “most coveted address” quickly attracted political interest.
Some readers interpreted the phrase as an allusion to State House, Nairobi, fuelling speculation about his ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
However, Gachagua did not explicitly mention State House or formally declare a presidential bid in the birthday message.
For Dorcas, the tribute was also a public celebration of a marriage that has endured decades of personal milestones and political change. As the couple looks ahead to another year together, Gachagua’s promise has placed Dorcas’s next birthday firmly in the spotlight.
