Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua arrived in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was accompanied by his spouse, Rev. Dorcas Rigathi, as his United States tour continues.
Kansas City Stop
Kansas City marks the third major stop on Gachagua’s ongoing US tour. The DCP leader is expected to engage Kenyans living in the region during his stay.
According to reports, local Kenyans welcomed Gachagua and his spouse with traditional Kikuyu songs. Gachagua is also expected to open the DCP Midwest Kansas City Chapter as part of the visit.
50-Day US Tour
Gachagua left Kenya on August 26, 2026, for an extended US trip. The DCP itinerary places his engagements in Spokane, Washington, from September 4 to September 10.
He then moved to Portland, Oregon, before proceeding to Kansas. His Kansas engagements run from September 16 to September 24, according to the itinerary.
After Kansas, the tour is scheduled to continue to Dallas, Texas, followed by Boston, Massachusetts.
Diaspora Engagements
During his US tour, Gachagua has held meetings with Kenyan communities. He has discussed issues affecting Kenyans living abroad, including taxation and diaspora participation.
In Portland, he said a future government would prioritise diaspora concerns. He also pledged to address what he described as double taxation affecting Kenyans abroad.
Gachagua’s US engagements come as political parties prepare for the 2027 General Election. The tour therefore combines diaspora outreach with DCP political activities in several US states.
For now, Gachagua is expected to continue his Kansas City engagements before moving to the next scheduled stop in Dallas.
