Harambee Stars are preparing to face Eritrea as the Government addresses player allowance concerns.
The Government says it has cleared Harambee Stars allowances for previous assignments ahead of Kenya’s AFCON 2027 qualifier against Eritrea.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said the Ministry had honoured its financial commitments to the national team.
However, some payments linked to subsequent assignments remain under administrative processing.
The Ministry is handling those payments in consultation with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
Government Lists Cleared Assignments
According to the Ministry, it has settled allowances linked to Harambee Stars assignments in Zambia, South Africa and Turkey.
The Government also cleared allowances for the Under-20 CECAFA assignment in Tanzania.
Furthermore, officials addressed outstanding salaries for members of the Harambee Stars technical bench.
The Ministry said it made payments through FKF and directly to members of the national team.
The clarification follows concerns over player welfare and allowances during preparations for the Eritrea match.
Some Payments Still Under Processing
Despite the clarification, the Ministry acknowledged that some payments for later assignments could remain outstanding.
Officials said those payments are now undergoing the required administrative procedures.
FKF remains involved in the process as the two sides work to address the pending obligations.
The Ministry also stressed that public funds must follow established financial and accountability procedures.
Meanwhile, reports have linked allowance concerns to disruptions within the Harambee Stars camp.
The situation has drawn attention as Kenya prepares for its opening AFCON 2027 qualifier.
Focus Shifts to Eritrea Clash
Harambee Stars will face Eritrea at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, September 26.
The match will mark Kenya’s opening Group D fixture in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
Afterwards, Kenya will travel to Guinea for another Group D match on October 1.
Mvurya urged all parties to use established channels to resolve outstanding issues.
He also called for constructive engagement so administrative matters do not disrupt the team’s preparations.
The Government says it remains committed to supporting Harambee Stars and the wider development of Kenyan football as the country prepares to co-host AFCON 2027 with Uganda and Tanzania.
