Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka will remain at Kamukunji Police Station pending a November 5 hearing after prosecutors opposed bail.

Kitui MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka has denied stealing 42 smartphones worth Sh609,000 from a shop on Nairobi’s Luthuli Avenue.

The Ikanga/Kyatune Ward representative appeared before the Milimani Chief Magistrates Court following his arrest on October 22, 2026. He pleaded not guilty to the theft charge.

Prosecutors allege that Musyoka stole the phones on August 5 from a shop belonging to Dahir Adan Mohamud. The charge concerns 42 Itel City 200 smartphones, each valued at Sh14,500.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said investigators had linked Musyoka to two other alleged phone thefts. Those incidents occurred in Nairobi in August and September and involved consignments valued at Sh1.8 million and Sh420,000.

Prosecutors oppose bail for Kitui MCA

Prosecutors opposed Musyoka’s release on bail, arguing that he could abscond. They also claimed that he had previously failed to attend court proceedings.

Separately, investigators requested 15 days to keep him in custody while they complete their inquiries. They intend to record witness statements, analyse CCTV footage and pursue suspected accomplices as part of those investigations.

Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo directed that Musyoka remain at Kamukunji Police Station pending a further hearing on November 5.

At that hearing, the court is expected to consider the prosecution’s objection to bail. It will also consider investigators’ application for additional detention time as inquiries continue.
