The ruling also found that City submitted misstated accounts. It further found that the club concealed financial information from auditors and regulators. The commission also upheld most allegations concerning City’s cooperation with the investigation.
However, the verdict does not end the case. Manchester City has strongly rejected the findings and says it remains convinced that it has evidence supporting its position. The club also intends to appeal the decision.
City must lodge its appeal by Friday, October 2. Meanwhile, sanctions have not yet been announced. Potential punishments could include points deductions, fines, relegation or expulsion.
