Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has declared his bid for the 2027 Nairobi gubernatorial seat. He promises to fix the capital by implementing development plans from previous administrations.
Mosiria made the announcement during a church service at Jesus Is Alive Ministries in Nairobi. He said he would prioritise completing existing projects instead of introducing an entirely new manifesto.
The county official is seeking to challenge his boss, Governor Johnson Sakaja, in the 2027 General Election. He believes his experience in different county departments has prepared him to lead Nairobi.
Mosiria Targets Unfinished Projects
Mosiria said former governors Evans Kidero and Mike Sonko had presented development plans that their administrations did not fully implement.
He promised to revive what he considers beneficial proposals and complete unfinished initiatives. According to Mosiria, Nairobi needs leaders who can turn existing promises into practical results.
“Kidero came with a good manifesto and you elected him, but he did not implement it. I am coming to implement Kidero’s manifesto,” he said.
He also argued that Sonko left projects unfinished before his tenure ended. Mosiria pledged to continue those initiatives if voters elect him governor.
However, he did not provide a detailed list of projects he would prioritise or explain how his administration would fund their completion.
Mosiria Also Addresses Sakaja’s Record
Although Mosiria currently serves in Sakaja’s administration, he has positioned himself as an alternative in the next election.
He has criticised the current administration’s service delivery while suggesting that he could build on existing development plans. He argues that his experience within the county government gives him insight into Nairobi’s persistent challenges.
Mosiria has previously worked in health and environment before moving to citizen engagement and customer service. He says these roles have exposed him to issues affecting residents, including healthcare, sanitation and public service delivery. He has also branded himself as a leader who can fix the city’s longstanding problems.

Why Mosiria Says One Term Is Enough
Mosiria believes Nairobi can make significant progress within a single five-year term if its leadership focuses on implementation.
His campaign message centres on practical action rather than introducing fresh promises. He argues that completing existing plans could help address problems that have persisted across successive administrations.
The 2027 race is expected to feature several aspirants seeking to unseat Sakaja. Mosiria’s declaration adds another contender to the growing contest for control of Nairobi County.
His proposed approach will ultimately depend on the specific projects he prioritises, the resources available and his ability to turn campaign pledges into measurable results.
