Media personality Oga Obinna has defended his decision to celebrate Geoffrey Mosiria’s removal from Nairobi County government, despite criticism from social media users.

Obinna expressed delight after Governor Johnson Sakaja removed Mosiria from his position as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service on October 21, 2026. The county reassigned the responsibilities to Zipporah Njeri Mwangi in an acting capacity.

Obinna Says the Feud Runs Deep

Obinna linked his reaction to months of online exchanges with Mosiria. The comedian allegedly accused the former county official of repeatedly attacking him online.

Obinna argued that critics were ignoring the history between them by focusing only on his celebration of Mosiria’s removal. He also referred to their disagreement over the Vurugu boxing event, which Obinna organised.

Mosiria reportedly questioned the event’s authenticity, alleging that a fight was predetermined. Obinna viewed the criticism as an attack on his brand and business.

The Sh10 Million Defamation Dispute

The disagreement also escalated into a legal dispute. Reports indicate that Obinna’s lawyers sent Mosiria a demand letter seeking a public retraction and KSh10 million in damages over alleged defamatory remarks.

However, the demand represents a legal claim, not a court judgment. No final court ruling establishing liability has been confirmed in the reports reviewed.

Obinna Mocks Mosiria’s Job Loss

Following Mosiria’s removal, Obinna shared a video in which he appeared to mock the former official’s employment situation. He also warned that Mosiria’s public criticism of his former workplace could affect his future career opportunities.

Obinna suggested that employers might hesitate to hire someone who frequently discusses workplace disputes publicly. The remarks added to the online debate, with critics questioning the decision to celebrate another person’s job loss.

A Feud That Continues

Mosiria’s removal followed a period of tension within Nairobi County government. He had also announced his intention to contest the Nairobi governorship in the 2027 General Election.

While the official reshuffle is confirmed, the county did not publicly state that the personal feud caused the decision. Obinna’s reaction has therefore become another chapter in their public disagreement, raising questions about accountability, online conduct and how public figures handle personal conflicts.
