Christmas Day Crash Claims Five on Kericho Highway

Fatal Accident Reported
Christmas Day celebrations turned tragic after five people died in a road accident along the Kericho-Nakuru highway. Moreover, two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kericho County Hospital.

Collision Near Kedowa Trading Centre
The accident occurred early morning near Kedowa Trading Centre in Kericho County. Police confirmed a Toyota Probox collided with a Mercedes-Benz Actros truck heading towards Nakuru.

Overspeeding Suspected
Preliminary reports indicated the Probox was overspeeding before the collision. Consequently, the impact left five victims dead instantly at the scene.

Police Confirmation
Kericho County police commander James Nyatich confirmed the incident. He stated the crash happened at around 5 am on Christmas Day.

Victims Believed to Be Family
Police suspect the victims were members of the same family. Additionally, they were returning from a holiday celebration before the tragic accident.

The crash raised the death toll to 36 within 72 hours. NTSA reported 31 fatalities on December 23 and 24 alone.

NTSA revealed most fatalities involved pedestrians, passengers, and motorcyclists. Furthermore, it identified 1,702 violations since December 20, flagging multiple non-compliant vehicles.
