Lodwar Man’s Burying Protest Sparks Debate on Fraud and Desperation

A Kenyan man, Wellington Amuhaya, recently drew national attention through an unusual protest in Lodwar town. He partially buried himself in the ground to highlight financial loss from an alleged fraud. Meanwhile, he held a placard urging the government to help recover his money. Consequently, the protest sparked widespread discussion about fraud and victim desperation in Kenya.

According to Amuhaya, desperation pushed him toward this dramatic act. He explained that two years of failed justice attempts left him frustrated and hopeless. Reportedly, he lost KSh 95,000 in a scam. Fraudsters allegedly posed as agents of a legitimate credit company. As a result, Amuhaya says the experience deeply affected his mental and physical health.
